What exactly is broad spectrum CBD?
Broad spectrum CBD is a form of CBD that contains most naturally occurring compounds in hemp, but it does not contain THC. More specifically, it contains less than .3% THC.
How is broad spectrum different from Full Spectrum or CBD Isolate?
There are three types of CBD: Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and CBD Isolate.
- CBD Isolate contains only CBD (no THC or any other compounds from the hemp plant).
- Full Spectrum contains THC and many other compounds from the hemp plant.
- Broad Spectrum contains less than .3% THC and it contains some compounds from the hemp plant — cannabichromene (CBC), cannabinol (CBN), and terpenes for example.
What are the pros and cons of using broad spectrum CBD?
Pros:
- Broad Spectrum may produce heightened effects because it contains additional, naturally-occurring compounds that work together. This is known as the entourage effect.
- Natural hemp flavor
Cons:
- Requires more processing to remove THC during manufacturing
Both:
- Broad Spectrum does not produce any THC ‘high’ effects
